How To Take a Screen Shot to Illustrate Issues

If you are having problems with Postbox, you may be asked to provide a screen shot to assist with troubleshooting.

Screen Shots on the Mac

  • Press Shift-Command-4 and let go, then press the Space Bar, and click the requested window.
  • The picture should now be a file on your desktop called "screen shot" with the date and time, with a .png extension.
  • Attach the picture to your support ticket.

Screen Shots on Windows

  • Select the desired Postbox Settings Window.
  • Ctrl-Alt-[PrtScn] to take the screen shot.
  • Open an Image Editing Program like Microsoft Paint.
  • Under the Edit menu select Paste and then save the image to your Desktop as a PNG file.
  • Attach the picture to your support ticket.

Important

Please note that we can only accept .png, .jpg, .tiff, or .gif files. We cannot accept any other file format.

When you're having problems sending or receiving, here are the screenshots we would like to see:

Sending

If you are having problems sending, go to Preferences | Accounts (Tools | Options | Accounts on Windows). Select the Outgoing Servers (SMTP) item from the tree on the left hand side (you might need to scroll the tree down to find this item). Select the SMTP Server that is not working and click the Edit... button to the right of the list of SMTP Servers. Follow the steps above to take a screen shot of the SMTP dialog.

Receiving

If you are having problems receiving e-mail for an account, go to Preferences | Accounts. Select the Server Settings panel for the account which is not working. Follow the steps above to take a screen shot of the server settings panel.

Other issues

Simply take a screen shot of what you think is necessary to illustrate the problem. The more details we can see from the screen shot, the better!
