Starting Postbox in Safe Mode


Postbox can be run in safe mode to help debug problems. 

How to start Postbox in Safe Mode

  1. Prior to restarting your computer in Safe Mode, please go to Preferences | Options > Display > General, and on macOS turn off Retina, and on Windows set the DPI to Low
  2. Go to the Help menu and select Troubleshooting
  3. Select Safe Mode, then click Apply and Restart

If Postbox Cannot Start

Make sure Postbox is not already running.


From the Windows "Start" menu, choose "Run" (this is "Start Search" on Windows Vista") then type in the following:

postbox.exe  -safe-mode


Hold the Option key while launching Postbox (keeping it held until the window appears), and it will start in Safe Mode

Alternatively, this can be done in Terminal:

Launch Terminal (Applications / Utilities / Terminal) and then type in:

/Applications/ -safe-mode

Starting Your Computer in Safe Mode

Sometimes restarting your computer in safe mode can help. Here's how:

First, place Postbox into Low DPI. Go to Preferences > Display > General and on macOS deselect "Retina Display" and on Windows select "Low DPI."

In the Finder on macOS, please locate the icon in your Applications folder, select it, then select "Get Info" from the File menu. In the Get Info panel, select the checkbox for "Open in Low Resolution."
