Before we start...

There are some important differences between Gmail's webmail interface and Postbox that you should know about. After you have followed these setup instructions, please visit our Using Postbox with Gmail page.

Setting Gmail up to work with Postbox

  1. Sign in to Gmail via your web browser, select Settings from the menu at the top of the page.
  2. Select Forwarding and POP/IMAP
  3. Enable POP or IMAP (we strongly recommend IMAP)
  4. Click Save Changes

Setting Postbox up to work with Gmail

  1. Open Postbox and select Tools > Account Settings.
  2. Click Add Account.
  3. Enter your full name in the Your Name field. Enter your Gmail address (username@gmail.com) in the Email Address field, followed by your password and click Continue. If you are a Google Apps user, enter your full address in the format username@your_domain.com
  4. On the next screen of the account setup wizard, Postbox will show your gmail settings. Click Done to create the account.
  5. You are now back at the Account Settings screen. Click OK.

Almost there...

Click on your newly created Gmail account in the folder pane, and then click the Get Mail button in the toolbar.  That should do it! Enjoy!
