If you are logged into Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn within Preferences / Advanced / Web Services, you can click on the Post button in the toolbar to update your status. Additionally you can select some text from an email and click Post to share that too.

To add the Post button to the toolbar, right-click the toolbar and select "Customize...". Then drag and drop the Post button into the toolbar.
