Constant problems with Lightning

Robio

I am having near-constant problems with Lightning and my Google calendar. If Postbox has been running for any significant length of time (several hours or more), all the events in my calendars disappear. At first, I get an Alert icon next to the calendar's name, but when refresh, that alert goes away, and I still have no events.

I've tried reloading, closing and opening the calendar, adding an event (to try to jump-start a reload), and the only thing that works — and this is only about 1/2 the time — is quitting Postbox and firing it up again.

I know Lightning isn't Postbox's product, but I'm hoping someone here might have suggestions or insights.

I have a similar problem but even restarting does not always make the warning that the Google calendar is "momentarily unavailable" go away.   I see some calendar entries but not others.  Then some go away and others appear.  Makes me not want to trust the calendar.  Lightening 1.0  is still in beta.  Does anyone know if this problem is addressed in 1.0 and thus will be resolved in the Postbox Add-on?  Makes the calendar sort of useless.

Sylvia, Prior to switching to Postbox, I used Thunderbird 3.0 and Lightning 1.0 [Beta] exclusively without any issues. It's only when I went back to Lightning .9 running on the Postbox platform did I begin to experience the same problems you are having. I'm fairly confident that once Lightning 1.0 is launched with Postbox that our problems will be solved.

Thanks Mark for the update. I appreciate it.   I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope Lightening 1.0 comes out soon!

I just purchased Postbox a few days ago and started setting everything up on my machines. Today I got a weird problem on may MacBook Pro. The freshly set up Google calenders won't show and the Calender tab just does nothing. I keep seeing my inbox and nothing happens.

I am using the latest version of Postbox, Lightning and the Google Calender Provider. Maybe someone got an idea for this. I already tried reinstalling the Addons.

Thanks in advance,

Sebastian

I am having a similar problem with my google calendar and lightning.  Some entries appear while others do not.  The combination of Postbox, Lightning and ReminderFox will replace my Entourage app.  I guess we have to wait for Lightning 1.0.  Is there a way to get the 1.0 beta?

I wish the Postbox folks would make Lightning 1.0 beta compatible with Postbox instead of waiting for the 1.0 final...

+1 on getting us the beta version of Lightning a.s.a.p.

The good news is....according to the Lightning Developers blog, they are ready to launch 1.0 Final with the release of Thunderbird 3.1 [http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/calendar/]. I think they are just days away from doing so. Hopefully, integration of Lightning 1.0 with PB will follow shortly after!

Looks like Lightning 1.0 is complete. The following is from the Lightning blog;

"This new release candidate contains fixes for a few locales, no further code changes. Since the Thunderbird 3.1 release is scheduled for this week, I assume this will be the final release candidate." June 20, 2010

great news! hopefully it won't take long to adept it to postbox. The current version really is a bit too slow with refreshing multiple (remote) calendars...

I hope so, but it depends on which version of Gecko/Thunderbird Postbox is based on. See this post for details: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/calendar/2010/06/lightning_10_beta_2...

This version of Lightning will only support Thunderbird 3.1

Same problem here - blank calendar intermittently.  Pretty frustrating!
